I wrote this Brass Quintet in honor of the loving communities that surround those who suffer
tragedy . I am blessed to have been a part of incredible communities throughout my life who in
these unbearable times have given selflessly , grieved deeply , and held up those who were too
weak, as we all are, to bear the burden alone.
The following program offers a metaphor for such a community:
I.FearandFury
A rampant dragon lays waste to an unprepared city , whose best efforts afford it survival, but not
without severe loss.
II.AllWeHaveLost
grieves.
Coping with the devastation and death of beloved citizens and soldiers, the city remembers and
III.Reborn,Rebuilt
A fanfare rings out celebrating the strength of the city , rebuilt to thrive again.
